As a member of SSN you can participate in interesting events in Sápmi (Sámi land), for example annual floorballs Sámi Championship tournament. In 2012 in Umeå, Sweden, both women´s and men’s teams won gold. When joining SSN you can play floorball in our successful teams.

At the annual meeting we select the new board of directors and SSN members, among the other things. There is always some side program in the annual meeting, after all it’s the most important SSN members meeting. The 2012 annual meeting was held in Karigasniemi, which was attended by a record number of members. SSN organized the evening concert at Kalastajan Majatalo, where Ailu Valle and Irdon were rocking the house.

SSN wants to familiarize the Sámi youth to the entire Sápmi and organizes meetings to members in different Sámievents. Indigenous peoples film festival Skábmagovat in Inari, Hettas St. Mary’s Day, international indigenous festival Riddu Riđđu in Norge and music festival of indigenous peoples Ijahis Idja have been in SSN’s event calendar for several years. New trip and event ideas are always welcome! SSN wants to encourage and support members’ participation in the events, that’s why we offer sometimes accommodation and/or money for travel. We inform about these always beforehand.

SSN informs members by email letter 2-6 times a year.  This is how you stay aware of what the organization is up to. We are also planning some products for our members.

On our website you will find updated and specific information about actions of the SSN and Sámi people and the events in Sápmi also indigenous peoples, as well as international indigenous events. There you will also find our contact information. With them you can contact us if you have questions or a dilemma or if you want to suggest us some new conquests. You can find out more information about SSN’s recent decisions and events in which we have been involved via our blog. You can find us also on Facebook – SSN – Suoma Sámi Nuorat. SSN’s event invitations are sent to members of the Facebook group.

Best of all, however, is that by joining SSN you get loads of new friends, kindred spirits and soul mates. The association will seek to bring together all the Finnish Sámi youth, as well as to cooperate with other Indigenous young people. With awesome trips and events you get to know new, interesting places and people.
